NEW HEAVY HAULAGE UNIT ARRIVES
( | /ke new Ford VB heavy duty Truck equipped with Thornton four rear wheel drive kits '(Ford Y8 6 x 4)' is on demonstration this week under actual working conditions in Rotorua. These units have two rear driven axle assemhlies. When equipped with Ford axles, eig'ht forward speeds are available; with the addition of Eaton two-speed axle assemhlies, thei'e is a selection of 1(5 . forward speeds to choose >|rom. The latter gives a comi plete range for the greatest variety of operating conditions, the lowest gear ratio 'being 115 to one. These trucks will be available in wheelbase ranging from 156 inches to 210 inches. The gross- vehicle rating is 28,00'01b. to 29,0001b., depending upon the options whi#ll will be available. A new 3-3/16 bore V8 motor with high torque camshaft - gives this latest truck engine greater torque at lower engine speed. A special import licenee has . reeently been granted for a substantial-n-umber of these units and the trucks
are eminentiy suitable lor the loggmg industry. By courtesy of the State Forest 'Serviee, one of these units has been demonstrating haulage on its regular work, including the transport of logs from plantation^ at Kaingara to the Waipa State Mill. A public demonstration has been arranged for to-day. Further details can be ascertained from Hale Nieholls Ltd., the loc-al authorised Ford dealers.*
