American Gift Towards Cathedral Restoration
WASIIINGTON, February 5. The banker, Mr. Thomas W. Lamont, has given £125, C00 to a fund for the restoration of the bomb-damaged Canterbury Cathedral. In a letter to the Archbishop of Canterbury, Mr. Lamont said that the •eontribution was an evidence of the goodwill that ccuntless Americans hore toward the British people. 'Mr. Lamont's gift, with the addition of £82,000' raised in Britain, leaves the restoration fund only £98,000 short of its goal. . 1 . — .
