VOLUNTEERS SOUGHT TO RELIEVE J-FORCE
WELLINGTON, last night. A call is to be made imiqediately for volunteers to relieve the personnel of the New Zealand Army now serving in Japan. This was announced this evening by the Minister of Defence, Mr. Jones, who said that the Army component of the New Zgalapd occupation force in Japan was due 4or relief, this year. f The Minister said that the basis on which volunteers -would be invited to serve would be a total period of 18 months or prior disc'harge. The R.N.Z.A.F. Squadron in Japan, consisting of six in all of about 300 personnel, was also to be relieved. It was expected that the original personne>l, who ha /e now spent almost 12 months in Japan, would be eompletely relieved very shortly.
