French Warship's Visit

Streaming from the mastheacl far out over the side, the blue, white and red pennant ("flamme" in the, French Navy) flown by the sloop La Grandiere 011 her arrival at Auckland yesterday morning represented 34,000 miles of steamiijg since the ship left France just before the German occupation in 19'40. When she berthed at Hobson wharf at 9.30 a.m. she had eompleted 18,000 miles in a seven months' cruise in the Pacifie. Her goodwill tour of New Zealand will cover the main ports, and will end with a visit to the Sounds. The La Grandiere will sail again for New Caledonia and Indo-China on February 25.
