REFUGEES SETTLE IN BETTER SUBURBS
SYDNEY, February 2. Most of the refluigees who arrived from Shanghai by the Hwalien this week have already settled in the better class suburbs. • Despite a grave shortage of houses and flats, the refugees, many of whom" are well to do, appeared to have no trouhle in securing accommodation, for the addresses to which their baggage is being sent are all in excellent localities. The refugees are loud in their praises of Bellevue Hill, Rose Bay, Coogee, Bondi and INiorth Sydney. ■ Prosecutiims are not likely to he launched as the result of the intense^ Customs' search of baggage on the j Hwalien, whie'h lasted for four days, and has now finished, Although the authorities were warned that bullionand eounterfeit banlcnotes were on board, it is under stood that none was found during the Customs . examinations.
