SECOND DAY'S RESULTS
ROTORUAvSIDE ONLY ONE WITHOUT, LOSS
Another day of brilliant weather conditions enabled good progress to be made with the .continuation of the Rotorua Bowling Club's annual opeii rinks tournament at the Government Gardens yesterday. In spite of light overnight rain, the greens were little affected and by the middle of the day ware again becoming tricky, especially for those teams on ' the lower green. y * During the day 'there further rounds of section play was decided, and the keenness of the competition .is shown by the fact that at the end of the sixth round the Rotorua rink, skipped by A. McMeekin, was the only team which had not experienced a loss. Honours in Section A were being sharedl by Bu-dd (Rotorua), Loram (Auckland), and Abbott (Remuera), each with four wins, while the other section leaders were McMeekin (Rotorua), Turner (Carlton), Gardiner (Otahuhu), and Gos-
ling (Onehunga). 'During the final game of the day several keen finishes were witnessed the match hetween Forsyth (Hamilton), and Ross (Epsom), being particularly interesting. .On the 15th end Forsyth had a lead of 22 — 7, 'but failing to score on the next six heads was fortunate to win by the narrow margin of 22—20. An extra end was necessary to decide the issue between Graham (Edendale) and McCullough (Rawhiti), the last-named eventually winning 20 — 18, while Burt (Tauranga) also secured the necessary 'point on the extra head to defeat Pakes (Rotorua). ' The two leading rinks in Section D, Gardiner (Otahuhu) and Condor (Hataitai), also had a dour struggle after the Otahuhu players had scored a six on the 21sfc to hring the game level at 23-all. The match went, to Gardiner on the additional head by oue point. . Section play will be continued today and on Thursday, and there are irdications that the qualifying po-ssi-bilities in some of the seetions will prove most interesting- by the close of to-day's play.
