MOMBASA MONKEYS LIKE BEER STRAIGHT
MELBOURNE. A small chimpanzee, which sat in the ship's lounge and drank heer straight from the bottle, was one of the star performers during the voyage of the Mangarella from Mombasa to Australia. The Mangarella, a Sewdish ship, caled at Mombasa, East Ai'rica, on her way from Gothenburg, and picked up 1034 speeimens ior 'Taron^ga Park Zoo, Sydney. The chimpanzee, named "Andy," achieved even greater notoriety by. robbing an elderly male passenger of his bedclothes during a quiet afternoon nap. A hyena, which escaped from its cage while the vessel vas tied up at Loureneo Marques, Portuguese East Africa, roamed around the ship, and settled at the head of the gangway just as members of the crew were returing to the ship. t The modern Noah's Ark is carrying a valuable cargo of animals, birds and reptiles, which range from 2in ruddy waxbill finches to a seven-year-old Afriean elephant. Among specimens is an extremcly rare whale-headecl stork, three baby black maned lions, and three rare and very poisonous snakes.
