FORMER FOLLIES STAR DIES IN POVERTY
-LOS AN'GELES. Eva Tanguay, who earned 2,000,000 dollars as an American vaudeville star, has died in poverty at the agc = of 68. One of the Florenz Ziegfeld's dis- ' eoveries, she earned 3500 dollars a week at the peak of her success, but was ruined by a stockmarket crash, illhealth and other causes. Her eyesight was so weakened 115 years ago that one red bulb burned in the midst of the white footlights so that she could know where thc centre of the stage was.
