w — " The best fields for the season faeed tho starter when the Rotorua Amateur Athletic ancl Cycling Club held their third points trophy meeting, at Pererika Street yesterday evening. In spite of a head wind, the sprinteirs continued to return good times, the junior. s again bettering standard in their event. Although J. Wild had r.; very ecmfortable win, off a too liberal mark, in the 880 junior, the other flmshes were keenly eontested; the competition for minor placings causiug as much excitement as the e/l'orts oi' the winners. Onee again there was sonie new talont to lend interest to the competition, some cf the newcomers gaining places. Miss J. Harwood, who wa? runner-up in the ladies' 80 metres hurdles at the last New Zealand University champiohiships, rau third in the 150 yards, but being a visitor, her place does not count for points.
