New Path of Country In Natives' Hands
i LONDON, January 29. i "The London agreement reached between the British Government and the Burmese delegation has' the effect," says the Times, of London, to-day, "of committing Burma's future to Burmese hands." j The coming"election will bring into being a Constituent Assembly and until the new constitution begins to operate, the Eixecutive Council will | enjoy the powers and privileges of an Interim Government. It will be treated by Britain with the same close consultation and consideration as a Dominion Government. The Times emphasises that it is left solely to the people of Burma to decide whether their freedom is to be realised inside or outside the British Commonwealth. The Newis-'Chronicle says that the agreement is a cause for real satisfaction. The Daily Herald underlines the Government hope that Burmese people may choose to stay inside the Commonwealth.
