TWO MEN CHARGED WITH ROBBING CHINESE
AUCKLAND, last night. A sequel to assault and rcbbery in a house in the city at midnight - on Tucsday, when two Chinese were the viciims, was ihe appearance in the po;;ee Court to-day of Selwyn Caplan, •«red £1, a ship's flreman, ard Benso •djalabiini, aged 20, an American seaman. • Tliey were charged jointly with robbing Charlie Wong 'Chuck and Fong H: n ,f 1800 American dollars, valued at £540, two half-sovereigns, £171 in monev, a gold chain and a gold piece, of a total value of £1024. They were also charged with using personal | violence to the tw0 Chinese. The court was crowded with specta- \ tors when the men were charged. • Accused were remanded until January : 31. •
