tion put before the United States House of Representatives demands the immediate return of .more than 200 Axnerican merchantmen- chartered by Britain during the war. Troop Reduction Danger: General Eisenhower stated that the size of the American occupation fox-ces, both in Germany axxd Japaxx, had been reduced to the point of danger. He criticised the idea that the need f or manpower in the services was lessened ■because the war wassover.
