At an athletic sports meeting helij in Palmerston North this eYemng, the highlight was. a record-breakuig discus throw by A1 Hershey, Americ|, who hurled the disc over 146 "feet, beating the New Zealand record oi 144 feet 61 inches, established Rothert, also an American, in 1931. . Hershey 's most striking exhibitidh was, perhaps, the way in which la thrcw the 161b shot, the iilce of whiJb has rarely before been seen in this country. . •. • Another American, Don Campbeii, showed his highly developed tecl)'nique and fine stride in the senipr 100 yards, when he beat Forsyth, of Napier, in a very clo-se race, in seconds dead.
