Alternative Move ii Sudan Talks Fail CAIRO, January 2(1. Britain and Egypt are soon to hold financial talks to settle the qnestion of Egyptian sterling balances. A British Treasury statement says that it is hoped that preliminary talks will he? held in Cairo next month. A British radio reporter says that a critieal stage lias been reaehed in the Anglo-Egyptian treaty talks, and the next day or two may be decisive. The British Ambassador, Lord Killearn, was received :by King Farouk during the day and he will pro'bably next meet the Egyptian Prime Minister. The PremieT told the Chamber cf Deputifis that if the treaty talks about the Sudan failed, he would take an alternative course to realise Egypt's aspirations. Correspondents take this to mean that Egypt will appeal to the United INlations.
