INQUIRY INTO INDIAN NAVAL MUTINY
Officers Helcl Blamewortliy By Commission BOMBAY, January 21. The report of the Commission of Inquiry into the mutiny of the men on the Royal Indian Navy at Bombay last February, criticises the FlagOffieer Commanding Bombay and his offieers. The report says that they did not realise the gravity of the situation soon enough, and that. they failed to take immediate steps 'to' reassert their authority, and at the same time, to alleviate complaints. According to thp 'Commission, the men's main grievances were an incorrect and extremely rosy statement of their prospects held out by the recruiting authorities, lack of contact between offieers and ratings, and a feeling of discrimination. The Commission c-onsisted of an Indian Chief Justice, a British ViceAdmiral, a -British Major-General, and two Indian Judges.
