KING'S NEPHEW HELPS MAGICIAN
LONDON, Jan. 21. When Jasper Maskelyne, the well-knovvn magician, called for "helpers" during a matinee performance at Victoria Palace Theatre, the first. of several small boys who clambered eagerly to the stage was an 11-year-old youngster who was rather obviously weaving his first long trousers. The boy in long pants helped the magician to padlock a girl assistant inside the box, and while a screen was put around the box he stood at one side of the stage. When the screen was removed a few moments later and the girl was found sitting on top of the box, the hoy examined the box, looked at the magician and smiled. It was not until he left the stage that it was known that the eager juvenile helper was the young Duke of Kent. The Duke . afterwards sent a message to the magician thanking him for the entertainment.
