Relief Over Settlement Of Waterside Dispute

This was particularly ti .ie in many quarters because of the oaralysing elfect the resiricted hours lia.d in many trade quarters during the last seven weeks. "The serious aspect of the dispute was enhanced hy the fact that the harvest is practieally in full swing and Britain is calling out for food," Mr. Holland ccmtinued. "It has been a distressing state of afiairs that we ir New Zealand who have the food were not able to have it loaded as quickly as we should wish to provide the maximum assistance where most needed." j Mr. Holland concluded hy saying j that a great deal of nublic interest I would be taken in the conditions under which the undertaking to resume work was given and in any understanding which might be arl ived at between the Government and watersiders and the Waterfront In'ustry Commission.
