British film exhi'bitors report that bo^t-office returns throughout England in 1946 indicate that James Mason is easily the most popular Clm star with the British public, even leading the top-ranking American .stars in popularity. , The leading five Brtiish film artistr? were , Mason, , Margaret Lockwood, Stewart 'Granger, Michael Redgrave and Anna Neagle. Exhibitors state that James Mason and Margaret Lockwood are also list'ed by the British film public among the first five favburite world film stars, the other three being, according to the box-office reaction, Bing Crosby, Greer Garson and Bette Davis.
