Clothes for South African Tour

Details oi the wardrobes of Queen Elizabeth and the Princesses for the tour are as yet State secrets. It is known, however, that the Queen 's favourite dressmaker, Norman Hartnell, will be responsible for the greater part of her costumes, including a number of the lovely crinoline gowns which won great admiration on pre-war Royal visits to Paris and Can ada. Epangled tule, fine lace, and shimmering satin, all made in England, will be the materials for these gowns. The Queen favours pastel shades for day costumes — clusty pink, and blue, pale violet ancl pearl grey. Summer frocks of nylon, silk crepe, and fihe linen suitable for the tropics, will be included in the wardrobe.
