Dealing with Xew ZealanJ's miliary l'e-organisation, a BriUsli rudio report com'ments that the changes will involve the pholition of dilferences hetween the various corps. and rhanges in the conditions of service ;'i ihe regular army. Fresident Trunian has announced that the Secretary for War and the Xavy have reached full and complete agreement on the merger of ihe United States armed forces. It will place the Army, Xavy and Air Corps nnder a secretary of national defence, t hough each hranch of the service will have its own military chiefs. The plan means that for the first time, the United Sta.es will have an independent air force on the lines of the li.A.F. It is announced that Canada's permanent armed forc-es are to he cut !jy one-quarter and the three services consolidated into one department.
