Aircraft Carrier To Bring Australian Immigrants
CANBERRA, January 16. The Australian Minister .of Information and Immigration, Mr. Calwell, announced here to-day that negotiations for at leafft. one aircraft carrier to bring United Kingdom immigrants to Australia were proceeding satfsfactorily. He said that such a vessel, carrying about 1000 settlers, would «be in serviee before the end of this year. It would make four tri'ps yearly. The j Commonwealth Government are also examining the possibility of using j aircraft for bringing to Australia urgently needcd classes of > inmiiI grants.
