Observers Hopeful Of Early Solution
AUCKLAND, Last Night. The quorum of a large conference cf the Federation of Labour is expected to satisfy the demands of the Auckland Trades Council and the executives of the individual unions which have been requesting a meeting of the Federation's National Council, according to the President of the Auckland Trades Council, Mr. A. Drennan. He said it was hoped that the conference would find so-me way out of the watersiders' dispute which he presumed, would move to the forefront of the conference discussion if no settlement had been reached by that time. Observers of the dispute, including union officials in Auckland, are hopeful, however, that the meeting of the National Council of the Waterside Workers' Union, which starts in Wellington on Tuesday, will bring a solution. The strength of the delegation from Auckland will be determined by the numerical strength of each of the 66 unions affiliated to the Auckland Trades ..Council. It is expected that it will nurnber somewhere in the vicinity of 150 representatives.
