FARMER SERIOUSLY WOUNDED
Two Armed Youths Found Three Hours Later NEW PLMOUTH, last night. A 23-year-old farmer, Raymond Brinkman, of Te Whakarae, Taumarunui, was taken to the Taumarunui Hospital suffering from a bullet wound in the stomach received after he surprised two intruders in his home this afternoon. His condition to-night is reported to be serious. Less than three hours later, two youths were arrested. A party of police in search of the assailant was travelling along the Ohura River Road when two youths were observed walking towards Ohura, carrying a loaded rifle, apparently ready for use. The police olficers closed in on the youths, who offered no resistance. The rifle and hetween 400 and §00 rounds of ammunition and about £15 was stolen from a car parked on the river road to-day.
