HINEMOA TO REACH N.Z. ON JANUARY 25
Expected at Wellington on Saturday, January 25, is the Union Steam Ship Company's new inter-island steamer express, Hinemoa. The Hinemoa was launched on May 30 last year, and eompleted her trials in time to sail from Greenock on Deeember 31, with 90 passengers for New Zealand, including 13 children. The vessel is saiiing by way of Siiez, "Port Said, Colombc-, and Fremantle. The Hinemoa will begin the passenger run early in February, running in conjunction with the Rangatira. On arrival in New Zealand, she will spend a short time under overhaul. The passengers include Sir Harry E. A. Twyford, Lord Mayor of London in 1937 and 1938. Sir Harry is a director of Cables and Wireless, chairman of the Bedfcrd General Insurance Company, and governing director of George Brettle and Co. ' Ship-to-shore l'adio telephones will |>e installed in the Hinemoa and also in the Monowai, which is expected to resume the intercolo-nial run. As far as is known, these will be the only two ships in the New Zealand trade fitted with radio telephones.
