CAUSE OF CORINTHIC FIRE NOW KNOWN
Short-Circuit In Lamp Wiring 'LONDON, January 6. The cause of the fire which broke out at 5 a.m. yesterday on the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company's linsr, Corinthic, which is nearing compl?tion at Cammel, Laird and Company's shipyard at Birkenhead, is believed to have been a short-circuit in temporary wiring for lamps. The heat ignited' a tarpaulin hold-cover, which dropped on loose shavings and cork insulation. It will he two or three days hefore thc owners will how the effects of the fire will delay the completion of the Corinthic and the ship's first voyage to the Pacific, says Reuter's news agency, but an inspection to-day shows how effectively',firemen and volunteers prevented the blaze from beeoming a disaster.
