NEW ZEALANDERS IN LONDON IGNORED
Amusement And Indignation At Honours List LONDON, Jan. 3. Ironic amusement, alternating with indignation, has been aroused in the New Zealand colony in Britain by the announcement that only one New Year honour has been granted to a civilian closely associated with the Dominions activities •in London. That honour, an M.B.E., was awarded to the telephonist at New Zealand House. While no one denies that she should hayg recognition of her worlc, there is a widespread feeling that many volunteer workers who worked po hard throughout the war should receivc some reccgnition. In commenting on the position, the High Commissioner, Mr. W. J. Jordan, said he had continually explained the position and there was nothing more he could do. Last year, he had forwarded a list of voluntary wc-rkers who deserved recognition and he could do nothing more until those on the list were recognised.
