BUTCHERS MAY CLOSE IN SYDNEY
Dispufe On Wholesale Pnce Ceilings SYDNEY, January 3. 'Nine hundred out of 1200 butchers' shops in Sy'dney and 300 in Newcastle will be closed indefinitely from Monday unless before then the New South Wales' hranch of the Meat and Allied Trades Federation and the Commonwealth Prices Branch come to terms over the policing of the wholesale price ceilings on meat. The previous decision by Sydney members of the federation was reaffirmed last night at a well-attended meeting. The Milk Zone Council has tdpcided to give the Federal Government until January 13 to aglee to the plan to give producers a return of ls. 8d. a gallon for milk, after which the council will fix a date for withholding milk from Sydney and Newcastle.
