Exploitation of German Forests Criticised

LONDON, January 3. German press criticism of the timber-felling programme in the British zone alleges that the cutting down of trees has assumed the proportions of exploitation, and will cause soil erosion. Under "Operatioii Woodpecker" 5000 British troops are felling trees for export to aid Britain's houhing firive. A British spokesman, while admitting that a normal four years' felling was being done in one year, said that it would not endanger agriculture.
