In a New Year speech, the newlyelected Prime Minister of Bavaria has called lor a peace treaty between Germany and the Allies whicb would mark the beginning o-f an independent Germany. He looked forward to the dissolution of zonal boundaries and to tbe return honie. of all German prisoners of war. It is offieially announeed that there are still over 500,000 displaced perscns in the American zone of Germany. They include 150,000 Poles and '126,000 Jews.
