CONCERT PRESENTED IN MUNICIPAL THEATRE
A sacred concert was presented in the Municipal Theatre last evening by the visiting Auckland 'City Boys' Band, assisted 'by local artists; as part of the Christmas and New Year fentertainment sponsore'd by the Rotorua Boroiugh Council Advancement Committee in conjunction with the 30,000 Club. The concert was notable for the variety and high standard of the singing and playing. Opening the programme, the band played the march "Knight of the Road," followed 'by the overture "Austral." Members of St. Michael's Choir then sang "Come Unto 'Me," followed, by an Italian composition. A zylophone solo by Mr. J. Ewart accompanied by the band, continued the entertainment, to be followed by two numbers by Miss Rewa Van Dongen. A piano seleetion by Mr. J. Bryce was well received as were two diffieult cornet solos by Mr. B. Borthwick, of the hand. Accompanied by Mr. J. Josephs on an electric guitar, Miss Gloria Clayton sang two modern compositions. A further presehtation by a double quartette of the St. Michael's Choir accompanied by the band. Their singing of 'Silent Night" and Lead Kindly Light" was one of the hi^hlights of the evening. Before the band played ite ftnal inuinber, the march, "Our Directon" Miss Jury, of Hamilton, eang "Because" and "Deep is the Night." . :
