FRANCO OFFERS TO ACT AS REGENT
Guardian of Pretender's Son LONDON, December 26. RelationS between:. the claimant to the Spanish throne, Don Juan, and General Franeo are Kiore strained' ever since 'General Frarico offered to take over the education of Don Juan's "nine-years-old son and train him in the prin-ciples of ""the new Spanish order," says the Times Lisbon correspondent. General Franeo sent a m(essagf3 through his Ambassador in Lisbon, Nicholas Franco, who suggested that on the occasion of the son's first commiuinion on Januaxy 5 the "young prince of the Asturias" should be handed over to the Spanish Government for his education. General Franco would act as guardian "and consequently as regent of the Spanish realm." Don Juan in the course of a stormy meeting, rejeeted the offer. He said he was not prepared" "to 'be treated as if I were the Sliltan of Morocco""
