CARNIVAL ATTRACTIONS UP TO NEW YEAR'S EVE
Attractions at the lakefront to-day are a children's plain and fancy dress party, beginning at 2 p.m., and a Maori concert and hangi in the evening. The Bay of Plenty Swimming Sub-Centre will stage an open carnival in the Blue Baths, also at 2 o'clock. The programmes for to-morrow will be a band colicert in the Government Gardens at 3 p.m., and a saered concert by- the Auckland City Boys' Band, with assisting- artists, in the municipal theatre in the evening, commencing at 8.30 p.m. On Monday night there will be another Maori concert in the open air. Tuesday, New Year's Eve, will, be a big day, beginning at 3.30 p.m. with a street parade of decorated vehicles, for wliich over £150 in prize-money has been allocated. There will be special sections for visitors in costume and for children. The parade will be repeated at 8 p.m. after which there will be a Maori concert, with items by the Boys' Band and the Rotorua Pipe Band, concluding just before midnight with a bonfire and display of fireworks.
