HOLIDAY CROWDS IN ROTORUA
i It is just a year since Rotorua's ■ guest accommodation returned to its i-pre-war capacity and in the inter- ; vening 12 months, no alterations of I any consequence to public or private I hotels have been made. I" In the nature of things, a large I increase in the number of people [ wishing. to make holiday arrangements for Rotorua was to be expected this Christmas and New Year and many of those now on vacation here made their bookings a year ago. Those whose prudence or luck did not carry them so far have had to • rely on. cancellations, or in fitting in odd periods, sometimes at more than one hotel. Many guest house s are booked out to the end of January and sj/ne, to the end pf the f ollowing month. The transieht population of the municipal motor camp yesterday was about 450. Many of the cars seen on the road are loaded with camping gear, and a few mere trailers than last year have been ohserved. So far, the weather has been kind to the out-of-doors iholiday-makers.
