Effective Answer Has Been Given To Critics
LONDON, December 23. In an editorial on Mr. Bevin's broadcast the Times says that the Foreign Secretary gave an effective answer to his critics. The newspaper declares that the more clearly it is shown that Britain Is taking her own middle way between the United States and the Soviet Union the stronger hecomes the basis for international cooperation, and the weaker the ground on which the crities stand. Several newspapers emphasise that the world's statesmen have yet to tackle what the Daily Herald describes as "the greatest problem of all; that of Germany.'' The Telegraph says that the solution of the German problem will call for a measure of agreement greater than that hitherto reached.
