The building, a wooden and iron structure, was largely used for the storing of empty packages and the packing of a small quantity of dried milk powder. The staff did good work until the arrival of the Morrinsville and Te Aroha brigades, and the fire was under control at approximately nine o'clock. Hoses were still being played on the smouldering building in the afternoon. Voluntary fire fighters and the brigadesmen worked strenuously and saved the main factory building.
