GREAT BELL OF ST. LUKE'S CHURCH

Dedicated And Rung For First Time By Donor The great bell, weighing over 6001b., whose deep mellow tone will soon become familiar to Rotorua, was rung fqr th'e first time yesterday morning at St. Luke's Church after a simple service of dedication. This was performed by the Rev. E. A. McCutcheon, who, with Mrs. McCutcheon, presented the bell to the parish. The bell will be used on Sundays and special fectivals; the small onein the church itself will continue to announce the daily services. At Matins, Archdeaeon R. Hodgson said the ringing of the bell was a reminder that God provides for everything we need- for soul and hody. It called us apart from the world that we might return to it, with all its problems and duties, strengthened and refreshed. It was a reminder to the sick and to those unable to attend, that they were hot forgotten. The Viear mentioned that the bell was of the best workmanship, and the belfry, built with heavy timber on reinforced concrete foundations. He paidi tribute to Mr. E. H. Crawford and his fine team of men, who had worked against time to erect the belfry. "
