WJiangarei Residential Nursery The Northland Residential Creche Society has acquired for £1400 a large house at Woodhill at present oceupied by the Mayor of Whangarei, Mr. W. Jones. This will provide for about 12 children* under five years at a mini-' mum charge of 10s. a week, other fees heing recouped according to the means of the client. The nursery will accommodate children of mothers who are ill 01* who are recommended rest from house'hold duties by a doetor. Bicycle Warrants of Fitness Each maehine ridden by a pupil of the Whau Valley Sehool, nqar Whangarei, is regularly examined by a monitor or the head -boy, who checks the brakes, white strip, seat height, bell, head cone, handle ■bars, refleetor, axle cones and tyres. Maori Musicale A Maori musicale was presented last night in the municipal theatre by members of the Taiporutu Club. AJthough the theatre was only partially filled, those present aft'orded the players an appreciative hearing. l'neluded in the programme were hakas, poi dances, action songs and solo items, the most popular being the hakas 'by the men. The programme began with an exhibition of food basket-making by Maori women, and a later scene demonstrated a traditional welcome by a village gathering to visiting tribesmen and women.
