TOURIST DEPARTMENT CHRISTMAS PARTY
EUCCESSPUiL FIRST FUNCTIOX OF NEWLY-FORMED CLDB. The newly-formed Tourist Department Social Clu'b eommenced aetivities with a flying start on Saturday, when a very .suceessful children's Christmas party was held in the Ritz Hall. The main feature of the hall's decorative scheme was the large Christmas tree in the centre, while fairy lights, streamers and the deeorated stage turned 'the hall into a room fit f oTvSanta Claus and his six fairy attendants. The function was opened hy Mr. A. MeFarlane (club captain),' who also J acfced as master of ceremonies throughout the afternoon. Addresses were delivered by Mr. W. E. Penno (Distriet Manager) and Mr. H. D. Beale (Electrical Superintendent),' who are vicepresidents of the club. The 150 children enjoyed eommunity singing and games, as well as items by Mr. D. Smith (yodeller), Mr. S. Riggs (Chinese illusionist), assisted by Mrs. Rigigs, Mr. W. Gonstant (clown), Morris McDonald (Highland fling), and six -members of the Pipe Band. Music for singing and games was pro•vided by Mrs. Douglas, Mr. II. Davis and Mr. T. McPherson. Afternoon tea was served by the ladies' committee, and after the chocolate parade, Father Christmas, surrounded by fairies singimg "Silent Night" and "Oh, Heavenly Babe," entefed the hall. Mr. MeFarlane presented him with an illuminate-d address, and after replying, Father Christmas dispensed presents from the loaded tree. The party coneluded at five o'clock.
