CITY-ALBION KNOCKS UP 139 RUNS
Old Boys 137 Against Kahukura Having made a first innings seore of 139 in the first day's play of its match against R.S.A. at- the Kuirau ground on Saturday, City-Albion has placed itself in a relatively good position, although the opening R.S'.A. batsmen have made a good showlng. C. Simmers lived up to his reputation as top scorer, malcing 72 runs hefore •being bowled 'by Rose. Other doublefigure scorers -were Collett 24 and Colema'U 13. The not out batsman was Doherty. , Bowling for R.S.A., W. Barron took three wielcets for 1, and 'I. Laurence two for 18. R.S.A. opened its first innings well, M. Holford ma'king 18 hefore 'being bowled by S. Godsalve. The not out basmen are R. Pringle 13, and W. Barron 20. Extras totalled 13. The Old Boys' eleven was all out for 137 in the first innings of ifcs match against Kahukura, which commeneed at the High School grounds on Saturday. Top scorer was W. Costello, who made 51 runs not out. D. J. Ewert made 27, W. E. Higgins 20, and E. C. Andrews 14. Bowling for Kahukura, R. Martin took four 'wickets for 11 runs, and Healy two for 10. When stumps were drawn, Kahukura had made 32 for the loss of six wickets (Andrews 15), three of them having falle-n to Ewert for three runs. G. Hobbs took two for 15. A friendly cricket game between Ngakuru and City-Albion was played at Ngakuru over the week-end. Ngakuru won on the first innings with a scoi'e of 111, Prccter -retiring at 56. He was the team's only batsman to reach double figures. In its firgt innings, City-Albion made 51 (Coleman 17). For Ngakuru, Stunnel took four wickets for five, and Brosnahan three for four. In their second innings the losers made 20 for seven wickets hefore stumps were drawn, Hyland and Gray both taking three wickets each for no runs. 'Bay of 'Plenty And Colts' Teams The following teams have been selected by Mr. S. A. Badeley to represent Bay of Plenty and Bay of Plenty Colts in a match to be played at Tauranga on December 21 and 22. This will be one of the trial matches for the purpose of selecting the team to play the Auckland touring XI. at Rotorua on January 8 and 9: — Bay of Plenty: A. G. Fisher, W. McKenzie, M. Le Pine, F. Cameron, (Whakatane), W. Curtis, B. Collett, (Rotorua), J. Renshaw, E. Beere, D. G. Sinclair (Tauranga), E. Capon (Pongakawa), S. Warren (Opotiki). Bay of Plenty Colts: E. Andrews, D. G. Ewert, E. Hobbs, T. Drury. W. Costello (Rotorua), B. Budd, J. Clarke, S. Bremner (Tauranga), J. Reid (Pongakawa), W. MeCVeady, J. Rivett (Whakatane). Badeley is reserve for both teams. Houi's of play on December 21 will be 1.30 to 6 p.m., and on the Bunday from 10.39 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is hoped to play another trial game in Rotorua, Probables v. Pos>sibles, on January 1 and 2.
