WELLINGTON TRAMWAYS ON 40-HOUR WEEK
WELLINGTON, Last Night. A letter to the Wellington Tramwaymens' Union by the Tramways Committee of the City Councii was released to-day. It covers negotiations witli the tramwaymen hefore they made known their intention pf working only a 40-hour week as from to-morrow. The letter states that the councii off'ers tramwaymen one penny a shift for all shift workers, time and a-half for the flrst three and a-half ho-urs5 work on .Saturday and double time thereafter. The ■ letter states that these offers could be put into effect to-morrow.
