SYDNEY, Dec. 13. The completion by the R.A.A.F. of ii aerial survey c-f the proposed rocket range in central Australia, involving the photographic eoverage of ••n area of 45,000 square miles is announced by the Minister of Air, Mr. Drakeford. Flying at 25,000 feet, an Austral-iau-made Lincoln bomber, 'specially equipped for the task, eovered a distance equal to twice around ihe world at the equator. The arcas photographed have not liitherto been snrveyed and it was not possible to provide radar or radio navigation aids to .assist the operation. Consequently, the operation was earried out by using daytime astro fixings which entailed waiting for days when both sun and moon were visible. Two of the navigators had to take a fix on the sun and moon every four minutes to ensure the9accuracy of the course.
