ASTONISHIN G CASE OF WOMAN WHO TAKES VERONAL PLENTY OF STRYCHNINE

Londoii, baturday. IThe remarkable case of a woman who survived 225 grains of veronal — 4i times the average fatal dose — -is described. in the British Medical Jourlnal. Sihe was discovered unconscious. Injections of strychnine, tota.lling six grains, or 12 times the average faital dose, isaved her life. The case is given as an example of the new use of strychnine in massive dosage as an antidote to poisonimg from hypnotic drugs, of the veronal group. ■It is explained that the strychnine"' injections were given n.t intervals over an hour. The woman remained in a sltate of coma for 60 .hours. She has now conipletely recovered.
