BOY DROWNED DURING RIVER FISHING TRIP

Auckland, Monday. A tragic sequel to a sehoolboys' fishing expedxtion occurred at Haniil- , ton on the Waikato Riyer on Sunday when Ivan Manpel aged 11, son of Mrs. M. Manuel, was drowned. The boy went fishing with a companion on. the riyer, but fell in when attemptjng to retrieve his rod whieh dropped into the current. 'The lad was unable to swim and his" companion Kendall Wilmhurst, aged 11, plunged to the rescue fully clothed but was unable - te hold up his friend, who sank. Another youth dived in and recovered the body.
