Doesn't | the very sound of it warm your heart ! with antioipation as the passing of each day brings the crowning festi- j val of th© year closer to haiid? Can't you 'see ibhe holly aiid (mdsltletoe and paper strearhefs transforming the dullness of everyday into a happy world of let's pretend ? All tbrough Decemlb:er these thoughts of Christmas have been uppermost until now, with barely four days remaining to ibiie 25th, this lovely anticipation is fast growing into an exciting reality. Christmas time is perhaps the most intimate of all seasons, for it centres round the whole family circle, but more espeoially does it cpncern the children — (and mo-thjer. She is tjhe keystone of th;e home and Christmas with all its festivities, its cheer ahd gifts, is a poor thing unless there is the forgivenness, affeobion, and love that is so closely assocdated with the word home. To the children it is a season of joy and happiness: to moth>er it is the birthday of love and thanksgiving, just as over nineteen centuriies ago Mary gazed with wrapt ado-ration and loving, tenderness uponi Her Holy Babe whose birthday marked the ftrst Christmas day of all. And now as we draw to the close of another year, Christmas day approaches heralding another birthday of th'e greatest thing in the world — 1 love. What a lot of real joy there is in the giving of Christmas gifts, in choosing somethdng that ybu kniow will please and give happiness to others. To those who have the shelter of home, and the loving thoughts of mother and father, Christmas is a perfect season of peace and happiness. To those whose lot is lesg fortuxiate and who lack ithese wonderful comforts, let us rememher this birthday of love ,ahd endeavour in some measure to brighten their lives and ' extend ito them the same spirit of rich giving to others that was so manifest in Him whose birthday came on iChrdstmas day. Leit me take this opportunity of extending to you all the very best wishes for a very happy Christmas. MARY AN'NE.
