UNROOFS HOUSES AND FLATTENS OUT FENCES

Melbounrne, Dec. 15. After heavy rain all day, a 55mile an hour gale struck Melbourne last night. Houses were unroofed, fences flattened, and trees uprooted. The 47-ton ketch, Agnes, was driven on the rocks at Wiiliamstowii and is now breaking up in the heavy seas. Yachts and other craft in Philip Bay were damaged. Country centres report severe crop damage by hailstorm. Real wintry weather is being experienced, both in Sydney and Melbourne.
