BRITAIN'S STRENGTH WILL BE INCREASED BY 4 SQUADRONS
— By Telegraph — Copyright).
London, Dec. 13. The Yorkshire Post's aeronautical editor says that provided the international situation is unchanged, the air force will be increased by four squadrons of about 50 planes in 1934. Three of the squadrons will be kept for home defence and the other for overseas. Already the home defence force is reduced to one squadron, and that left for Singapore last week. It is significant that aerial strategists regard the Scottish manoeuvres on September 15 as bearing on Singapore responsibilities. If an emergency arose in the Far East the extent to which defence would he entrusted to the air arm would be dependent on the effectiveness of operations similar to those visualised on the Firth of Forth.
