THEFT FROM FARM
BOTH FARMER AND EMPLOYEE FINED BY THE COURT IMPLEMENTS "PLANTED" Otorohanga, Tuesday. In the Police Court, Cyril Garry was charged with the theft of a number of farm implements. Accused had been rabbiting on the Pirongia Road, prior to becoming employed by a farmer of the vicinity, Mervin Sisson, who was charged with aiding and abetting Garry in the commission of the offences. Garry pleaded guilty to all the charges. Sisson pleaded not guilty. Garry stated that Sisson, his then employer, asked him to steal the plough and other implements. He, very foolishly, acted on his ernployer's instructions. Sisson said he had nothing to do with the thefts. Garry was his farmhand, and. he did not hold himself responsible for what his employee did after his woik on the farm was finished. He knew that Garry . was stealing the articles, and knew that he planted them on witness' farm. Garry and Sisson were each finecl £4 on one charge, and convicted and discharged on the other counts.
