PLUNGES INTO HARBOUR
MAN DIYES TO RESCUE OF CHILDREN. i One woman was drowned and another woman and two children were rescued recently in England, when a saloon car in which they were travelling ran into the harhour at North Berwick. The dead woman was Mrs. Jackson Russell, of Archerfield House, East Lothian, and the other occupants of the car were Mrs. Boyd's children, a boy of 10 and a girl of 14. When th'e car was approaching a parking place at the side of the harhour all efforts to stop it faikd, and it fell over a wall into the water. Immediately a young man dived into the harbour, forced one of the doors open, and rescued Mrs. Boyd and her two children. It was i'ound difficult to extricate Mrs. Russell, who was the driver of th'e car. When she was released she was taken to a fisherman's hut and every effort made to restore life. At the time of the tragedy a number of people were swimming in a pond close by.
