CATHQLIC SCRUPLES GERMANY LIKELY TO AROUSE TROUBLES WITH HOLY SEE ENCYCLICAL ISSUED
— By Telegrapli— Copyrlght).
(Rec. 10.50 p.m.) • Vatican City, Noy. 28. Serious tension is likely between Germapy and the Holy See if the Sterilisation law is enforced. Gerinan Cathplic authorities have been instructed to protest vigorously against its application. As a compromise is impossible on the subject, Catholic doctors are not permitted to sterilise and nurses are forbidden to'assist at the operation. Those voluntarily submitting to sterilisation cannot contract valid marriage. It is recalled that the Pope in a recent encyclical declqred that public authorities did not possess power over human bQdies and cannot direetly damage their integrity for eugenip or any other purpose. Man must be free to choose between good and evil. Compulsory virtue was valueless.
