WORKERS COMPLAIN ABOUT SETTLEMENT CONDITIONS
-By Telegraph— Copyrlght).
Wellington, Tuesday. A request that the law relating to workers* compensation be amended to provide more protection for workers as regards the settlement of claims was made to the Minister of Labour, Hon. A. Hamilton, by a deputgfion from the conf erence of the New Zealand Workers' Federation. It was alleged that workers are being forced to accept lump payments in 'settlement of claims, which was against their interests. A complaint was also made as to the basis on which waterside workers were placed when computing the ampunt of relief they were entitled to under the Unemplpyment Act, and it was suggested that the board and federation should confer and evolve more equifable arrangements. The Minister gave the deputation a sympathetic hearing, and undertook to investigate the matters raised.
